“Green’s slasher sequel — in which horror icon Kane Hodder plays a deformed, swamp-dwelling serial killer named Victor Crowley — was released unrated by the AMC theater chain on October 1, after the MPAA annoyed Green by giving the film NC-17. But AMC pulled
Hatchet II from screens after just a couple of days. The chain subsequently issued a statement saying, “We review all films in all of our theaters every week and then make our business decisions based on their performance.” At the time, Green told EW he believed AMC had become alarmed by the Internet controversy provoked by his criticisms of the MPAA,
which included his description of them as “evil.” The director also said that the situation had left him “bewildered and confused” and that he had “lost 11 pounds in the last week from stress.”

Not a lot of folks have seen this one yet. To refresh you memory, HATCHET II was the first indie horror film in over 25 years to be picked up by a major movie chain, without a rating. It only played for a couple of days but still.
Because of that amazingly short run only a handful of folks got to check the flick out but that will change, at least for those of us with TIME WARNER or COMCAST.”

“Well folks it's no surprise that Adam Green's
HATCHET 2 was a bit of a disappointment. I'm not talking about the film itself but rather the film's release, which only lasted a matter of days before the uncut film got pulled from theaters. Did the Unrated tag hurt the flick? Obviously. Did it even stand a chance? Not at all.
Well worry not ladies and gents! Just because you didn't catch the Unrated HATCHET 2 in theaters doesn't mean you're going to miss out! The uncut flick is set to hit video-on-demand in all of it's unrated glory on December 1st! Hot damn that's tomorrow! Natch!
